NEW GENERATION
COMIC MAGAZINE
MANGA/COMICS/ZINES/LIGHT NOVELS
Dangan is a quaterly magazine based in Almada, Portugal, focused on publishing comics, manga, zines, and light novels by Portuguese-speaking authors in serialized or one-shot format.
HISTORY
"A platform, a home where Portuguese artists could publish their work regularly without having to submit to the immobile forces of large, stagnant publishing houses."

This was the idea that was born in 2017 and took shape in 2019.
Five years of work and revision followed, with multiple perspectives on what it would become, from its name and design to its cultural identity.
Originally, several names were considered, but the first to enter the conceptual phase was "Luso Comics".

This idea was focused exclusively on publishing comics and manga, but without the guarantee that we would have enough artists for a complete publication, it became obvious that expansion would be necessary.

The next name was Danda Comics, with a cleaner and more refined design. It became the first version of the magazine to have a prototype and was created and documented for use in the Professional Aptitude Project for the final course of the Editor-in-Chief André Araújo.
The name DanDan was considered and used as a basis for Danda, and is related to the onomatopoeia of the sound of a drum.
The response was unanimously positive, and from there a rebranding process began based on the feedback received.

Several names were considered, with Dangan emerging as the winner.
The main reason for the name change was the logo, as at a glance it could be incorrectly read as "Danpa".
Throughout the process, including from the first edition onwards, the cultural and visual identity of the magazine changed towards something more hardcore, mainly with the arrival of Editor Mário, who helped and made it possible to start the production and publication process of the magazine.
Many people have been involved in the project in one way or another over time, however, the team remains small and irregular, with a large part of the members performing support functions in various areas such as researching material for articles, social communication, and others.
Since the publication of the first edition, new partnerships have been formed, with more to come.

GENERAL QUESTIONS
How do I participate in the magazine?
We always have open calls for applications; check the requirements and submit your work here.
Do you ship internationally?
Due to the high shipping costs, we have opted to limit the sale of physical editions to the Portuguese national territory.
We can make exceptions, but with a minimum shipping cost of €15 per order.
How can I support you?
By purchasing the magazine, volumes, prints, and merchandise from our online store; by joining our subscription program; by sending fan mail, praise, criticism, and feedback through Instagram or one of our other channels; by visiting the magazine during events; or by sharing the project with more people.
All support is valuable, in whatever form it comes; it is thanks to our fans that we are able to continue fighting.
Is the magazine limited to Portuguese artists?
No, we publish works by artists from any Portuguese-speaking country, that is, any country where Portuguese is the predominant/official language.
These include: Portugal, Brazil, Angola, Cape Verde, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, São Tomé and Príncipe, and East Timor.
We do not intend to publish artists of other nationalities under the Dangan brand, but exceptions may be made in the case of special, collaborative or commemorative publications.
What is your policy regarding the use of AI?
We make no exceptions for the use of Artificial Intelligence in the writing of articles or the production of papers.
Out of respect for our readers and the art community as a whole, we will not corrupt our products with low-quality content in a quick and cheap attempt to pretend that we can produce more than other specialized magazines.
We may make mistakes that slip through the review process, we may not publish as frequently or as often as we'd like, but we believe that human imperfection reflects our struggle and growth as people, the most beautiful element of life and art.
What is your customer satisfaction policy?
Customer satisfaction is our priority.
In the event of problems with the shipment of orders or damaged products, we provide a replacement at no additional cost.
We also clarify any questions submitted through our contact form, private message on Instagram, and comments on social media.
